He thinks the dance is called, "The dance of the video." OMG! Poor Janet. I hope she was getting paid for this. Everyone says she is the sweetest person and I take this video as proof positive! I think the producers just wanted this old bird up and moving so he'll last a little longer and they can keep getting paid. Larry would try my damned patience especially when he goes into his self-effacing Jew routine. Why does he have to work being a Jew into every conversation? How damned annoying is he?

Wishing Prince Harry and all the men and women in harms way a safe return home.
Things are going well with the exception of my health. Colds and such seem to come and go but from what I'm hearing everyone is dealing with that. I guess it's lucky I got the flu shot earlier in the season or I would have really been screwed.
I'm enjoying the debates between Barack and Hillary. Two intelligent, caring people is refreshing. It's been seven years since I could feel anything but pure venom when it comes to politics. All we've done the past seven years is hit the mute button when George Bush comes on the TV.
I have two weeks off coming up this month and I think I'll take my oldest niece to the art museum to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit. Maybe a day trip to NYC if the weather cooperates? Other than that I have no big plans and no intention of acquiring any.
My new car is lovely. I have to admit I'm really enjoying it. I hung onto my last car for so long and this time I'm thinking I will upgrade sooner. I have so many kettles on the fire. Probably not SO MANY, but it feels like things are changing fast and for the better. Of course I am initiating a lot of that change. I got through buying a new car and that was something I had a lot of fear around due to some underlining issues. I have to remember that I am a lot stronger then I give myself credit for and sometimes when life feels trying I just need to adopt the attitude of my 3year old niece....

"I wonder what the poor people are doing... I'd love to be doing it with them!" ~ Fats Waller
We may have to go back to the rent parties people threw in 1920's Harlem. People would throw a house party with live music and the guests would chip in a dollar or so and it would go towards the persons rent that month. Jazz pianist Fats Waller was associated with these parties
Waller performing one of his most well-known pieces, Ain't Misbehavin'.
"The ebullient young man with the dazzling jazz style was a big hit at the Sherman Hotel. His nightly audience included men with wide lapels and bulging pockets. One evening Fats felt a revolver poked into his paunchy stomach. He found himself bullied into a black limousine, heard the driver ordered to East Cicero. Sweat pouring down his body, Fats foresaw a premature end to his career, but on arrival at a fancy saloon, he was merely pushed toward a piano and told to play. He played. Loudest in applause was a beefy man with an unmistakable scar: Al Capone was having a birthday, and he, Fats, was a present from "the boys".
The party lasted three days. Fats exhausted himself and his repertoire, but with every request bills were stuffed into his pockets. He and Capone consumed vast quantities of food and drink. By the time the black limousine headed back to the Sherman, Fats had acquired several thousand dollars in cash and a decided taste for vintage champagne."
*Note: Fats Waller is heavily featured in the 2008 Michel Gondry directed movie "Be Kind Rewind"

Best Supporting Actor - Javier Bardem, No Country For Old Men
Best Picture - No Country For Old Men
* I can't wait to see No Country For Old Men and please see La Vie En Rose. It is such a great movie and Marion Cotillard won for best actress. Other than the hotness that is Javier Bardem, the Oscars were very BORING.
A collection of five-minute films about the City of Lights brings Paris to life with a unique patchwork of 20 stories. Numerous writers, directors and actors lend their distinctive vision to the project, employing a wide variety of styles and subject matter. Participants include Gérard Depardieu, Gus Van Sant, Ethan Coen, Joel Coen, Wes Craven, Marianne Faithfull, Steve Buscemi, Juliette Binoche, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gena Rowlands and many others.
*I watched this movie today and it is SO good. I loved all the scenery and the stories were great. I really didn't expect to enjoy it that much but I did. It's a movie you should see right before you hop on an plane to Paris.

I put this post under the catagory of luxuries. I just feel like thinking in terms of luxuries today, Ok.
* First off, I did get a new car it's a Toyota and its metalic gray. I really like the color- not to dark not too light. It's awesome on gas and that's what really matters. I wish I could afford to go hybrid but at least I can conserve in the meantime. Cars aren't a huge deal with me. I like them to be small, cute and updated, that's it.
* I switched from Allstate car insurance to Geico and I'm already MUCH happier due to the fact that the same coverage is significantly cheaper.
* I still have this rotten cold but I'm living with it and praying for snow because then I get to stay in bed and watch DVD's or Celebrity Rehab.
* I filed my taxes online for FREE and did direct deposit for my return. That's rocks!
* Still working on getting my hair cut. I just haven't felt up to it and I'm going for a BIG change, something I've never done in fact so I need to feel well before I make that move.
* Britney Spears is settled down (read sedated) and I'm happy for her. She looks better too.
* Last night the millionaire matchmaker said women fall in love between their ears and men fall in love between their eyes. She also said women want security first then love follows, I totally agree. I've never married because I never found my rock and that's the God's honest truth. Broke or underemployed just doesn't work for me. It's hard to meet an intelligent, sophisticated man who isn't a control freak.
* A friend is celebrating his birthday tomorrow night and I really want to go because I'm sure it will be nice. I hope I feel better. I'm not going to a party blowing my nose with my eyes tearing up. GROSS.
Sometimes dreaming of a far away place is the first step too actually getting there. One location I love reading up on is Peacock Pavillions the soon to be completed guest house for anyone including Americans, interested in visiting the exotic destination of Marrakech. Maryam and her architect husband, Chris Redecke are creating this amazing guest house and planning all kinds of exciting decor to transport and mesmerize their guests each and everyday spent at Peacock Pavillions.

Today I realized I will always have my same issues. I won't lose them, they won't change but they may lessen in severity depending on the day. That's probably the best anyone can hope for.
This morning some woman blocked me in at work. I got on the radio in my vehicle and called for the owner of the red car to move so I could pull out. I saw her dash too her car, talking to herself. She should have talked to herself when she made the choice to block me in knowing I have asked her in the past to move. I drove away pleased with the idea of irritating her. See, that's one of my issues right there.
I'm the grandchild of an Irish born person. That qualifies me for duel citizenship here and in Ireland. The benefit of duel citizenship is being able to work or retire in Europe- HELLO! I'm seriously considering getting my citizenship and it's not that expensive. You never know where you'll wander off too so why not be ready? I'm not planning an escape from the US or anything because I know where ever I go, I take me with me.

Men's Health has named the Aussie Cheese Fries from Outback Steakhouse (Does anyone still eat there?) as the worst food in America. The fries are made with cheese, bits of bacon and are served with a side of Ranch dressing. They check in at a whopping 2,900 calories and contain 182 g fat 240 g carbs. Yum.
Men's Health said, "Even if you split this 'starter' with three friends, you'll have downed a dinner's worth of calories before your entree arrives. Follow this up with a steak, sides, and a dessert and you could easily break the 3,500 calorie barrier." UGH! (Source)
"Stronger" was my fav song of '08. Too bad they censured his lyrics, they are great! He was so close with his Mom. What a beautiful tribute to her. He is really an artist.
When you've been around the recovery community as long as I have (12 years) you know miracles happen everyday. Seeing Amy Winehouse accept her Grammy alive and sober was nothing more than a miracle. I was very touched and happy for her. At times I counted Amy out when I should have known you can never, EVER count an addict out. They have nine lives, it goes with the territory. Just a couple of short weeks ago she was a toothless addict in the streets of London. Last night, not only did she sing and not lip sync but she appeared to be totally present.
This weekend I watched Obama's speech on TV. He talked about his mother who had him when she was a teen and a father who deserted him when he was two. He said people call him naive and say he is just preaching ideals and nothing else. He said they didn't have much when he was growing up but they knew the benefit of an education and they had hope. Sometimes hope is all you have and I completely get that.

"After years of dodging and dissembling, the Bush administration today boldly embraced an interrogation tactic that’s been an iconic and almost universally condemned form of torture since the Spanish Inquisition.
President Bush would authorize waterboarding future terrorism suspects if certain criteria are met, White House spokesman Tony Fratto said this morning, one day after the director of the CIA for the first time publicly acknowledged his agency’s use of the tactic, which generally involves strapping a prisoner to a board, covering his face or mouth with a cloth, and pouring water over his face to create the sensation of drowning. " ~ (Source)
Now you may ask yourself what does John McCain have to do with torture and the answer is I don't know we'll have to see after he plants us in Iraq for the next "One Hundred Years." Also I question the mental stability of a person like McCain who is desperate to align himself with the Bushes; the conservative right.
If you check my twitter link then you already saw this post but anyway here is my new Ralph Lauren necklace again. I love it!

People who makes lots of promises and don't follow through.

Death Cab For Cutie - Soul Meets Body
This morning feels like Spring. I was out and about thinking how we are so going to pay for this gorgeous day come March/April. That's Ok I'll take this weather while it lasts.
I think Hillary is going to be the Democratic nominee. I really believe she will reform healthcare but we shall see. She tried to do it as first lady and the Republicans shot her down. Aside from not caring about whether or not we all have insurance, they weren't going to let a Democratic first lady go down in history for something like healthcare reform. That's one reason I would like to see Hillary get another shot at reforming our broken system put in place by Richard M. Nixon thank you very much . We women always have to wait it out and use our wits to get what we want in this world. Our time usually comes but men never seem to get this do they? Go Hill you've earned it.

"My father was a conservative Republican, who held very traditional views for much of his life. Yet in his last years, it was a gay couple who lived next door who provided much of the compassion and comfort he and my mother needed as he grew ill. And it was that same neighbor who held his hand as he died. If my father can move, America can move." ~ Hillary Clinton
(Click below to read her stunningly beautiful message in it's entirety)
As I have traveled around the country these past twelve months, what I sensed in my heart has been confirmed – America is embracing its LGBT sons and daughters with an acceptance and understanding as never before. On the campaign trail, a father of a gay son will ask about ending Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. A woman will ask why she can be discriminated against just because of who she is. Sometimes they wait furtively for the crowd to thin and then whisper their confidences in a soft voice and sometimes they stand up proudly at town meetings and want me to share my views on how I will help lead the change to assure that this country fulfills its promise to everyone.
Let me tell you what I have been telling voters across America. I am fully committed to the fair and equal treatment of LGBT Americans. For seven long years, the Bush Administration has tried to divide us - only seeing people who matter to them. It's been a government of the few, by the few, and for the few. And no community has been more invisible to this administration than the LGBT community.
I will change that. The best evidence of what I will do as President is what I have already done.
* I am proud of my record as First Lady, as a U.S. Senator and as a candidate for President in working toward the fair and equal treatment of LGBT Americans.
* I am proud that as Chair of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee in 2006, I worked closely with LBGT community to develop a smart strategy that defeated the Federal Marriage Amendment. I am proud of fighting the FMA as divisive wedge politics at its worst.
* I am proud to be a co-sponsor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, and the Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligation Act which would grant the same benefits (including health insurance) to domestic partners of federal employees that are currently offered to employees’ legal spouses.
* I am proud to have authored the Early Treatment for HIV Act, which expands access to vital treatment options for low-income individuals living with HIV, and fought to fully fund the Ryan White CARE Act.
* I am proud that I hired a National Director of LGBT Outreach within a month of announcing my candidacy for President and to have openly gay and lesbian staffers serving at all levels of my campaign.
* I am proud to have a National LGBT Steering Committee of over 130 that includes openly LGBT elected officials, Board members and opinion leaders on issues ranging from transgender rights, to HIV/AIDS, to “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”.
* I am proud to have marched in Gay Pride parades as both First Lady and as Senator and to have spoken in front of so many LGBT audiences ranging from the Human Rights Campaign, Empire State Pride Agenda, the Hetrick Martin Institute, PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), GMHC (Gay Men’s Health Crisis), and the American Foundation for AIDS Research.
* I am proud to have fought Republican efforts to demonize and marginalize the LGBT community, and I will continue to do that as President.
We have so much work to do. When I am President, we will work together to make sure that all Americans in committed relationships have equal benefits and that nothing stands in the way of loving couples who want to adopt children in need. We're going to expand our federal hate crimes legislation and pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act and assure that they are both fully inclusive of all people. And finally, we will put an end to the failed policy of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Courage, honor, patriotism and sacrifice – the traits that define our men and women in uniform – have nothing to do with sexual orientation.
My father was a conservative Republican, who held very traditional views for much of his life. Yet in his last years, it was a gay couple who lived next door who provided much of the compassion and comfort he and my mother needed as he grew ill. And it was that same neighbor who held his hand as he died. If my father can move, America can move.
To each and every LGBT American, I say this. You have done so much to help this country understand your lives by simply being open and honest about who you are and living your lives with dignity. Thank you for your courage. It is time that we recognize your hard work. I know that this country is ready for changes in the law that reflect the evolution in our hearts.
America deserves a President who appeals to the best in each of us, not the worst; a President who values and respects all Americans and treats all Americans equally no matter who they are or who they love. I want to be that President. I want to be your President.
I love this page as it explains the concept of boundaries. Boundaries are alive and well in my life today but make no mistake those controllers will resent those boundaries but that's OK. Please enjoy a boundary filled day and know that you have the strength to protect yourself.

(Hours later)
Ok, I'm back now and still trying to process what happened last night. I'm very disappointed but I'm pretty clear on what needs to happen. I'm tempted to go into self-pity mode and dwell on the fact that I've been let down again. I'm not the first person to be disappointed and the good news is I spotted the red flags a while back and am now choosing to avoid this pit fall all together. I'm SO much better off then I give myself credit for sometimes. I look at other people and based on exterior things (appearance, job etc.) I think they have it SO together on the inside too. Later I realize I have it lots more together in the ways that count. I can be present for others. I have boundaries and I know when and how to say no. I'm off to plan B now. It's going to be some work but that's ok, I'm ready and capable.
Suddenly it's become clear. I can't even be mad or annoyed because this person isn't well, I just didn't realize. It's time too move on as I have done so many other times. Am I disappointed? Of course, but I'm sure I'll be better off. I'm on to plan B, C and D. I'm done going to this dry well for a drink.
ABC News: Celebrity-filled music videos have been used to support many social movements, from famine relief for Africa, to support for American farmers, to opposition to apartheid in South Africa.
But rarely have celebrities and musicians banded together to create new music in the heat of a presidential campaign.

"Martha is 108... years old. She weighs somewhat more than that."~ George in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf (1966)
Have you ever known a person who just wants to complain about their relationship? He is this and he's that and they have loads of evidence to support their claim. Maybe you have witnessed the unacceptable behavior of their spouse yourself for years? Wouldn't you finally get to the point where you say, "Look you've chosen to stay with the bastard and there is nothing I can say that I haven't already said," even when it's your own mother?

"I swear to GOD George, if you even EXISTED I'd divorce you." ~ Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf
I was way skeptical about this show in the beginning but I like Dr. Drew so I tuned in. After watching the series thus far, I have to say it sheds a lot of light on the disease of addiction and it shows the way an addict thinks and how crazy a person can become from interacting with the disease.
People might say these folks are doing the show to get some TV face time but let me say this about that, no one ever goes into recovery for the right reason. It's the people who stick it out that you want to keep your eye on. They find a bravery and a strength they never knew they had and I'm sure these people are inspiring more addicts then they even know.
"For both sexes, the probability of depression peaks around age 44." ~ USA Today
Don't believe everything you read. A lot has to do with diet and exercise. It's no coincidence that many people are way over weight by 44 years of age. Some have been steadily increasing in weight since their 20's. Some have never addressed family issues, compulsive drinking or eating and now the weight is betraying them. That's what happens- diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure. All of those health issues would depress me too. UGH! I think I'll go for a walk now.
I can't wait to see this movie when it comes out on DVD. (The theatre going experience holds no interest for me anymore.) It looks like a real Kleenex and fetal position one! Don't you love all Focus Features films? I see everything they put out.

Nominated for 7 Academy Awards Including Best Motion Picture of the Year, Adapted Screenplay, Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role - Saoirse Ronan and Achievement in Cinematography!
Shot on location in the U.K., the film's story spans several decades. In 1935, 13-year-old fledgling writer Briony Tallis (Saoirse Ronan) and her family live a life of wealth and privilege in their enormous mansion. On the warmest day of the year, the country estate takes on an unsettling hothouse atmosphere, stoking Briony's vivid imagination. Robbie Turner (Mr. McAvoy), the educated son of the family's housekeeper, carries a torch for Briony's headstrong older sister Cecilia (Ms. Knightley). Cecilia, he hopes, has comparable feelings; all it will take is one spark for this relationship to combust. When it does, Briony - who has a crush on Robbie - is compelled to interfere, going so far as accusing Robbie of a crime he did not commit. Cecilia and Robbie declare their love for each other, but he is arrested - and with Briony bearing false witness, the course of three lives is changed forever. Briony continues to seek forgiveness for her childhood misdeed. Through a terrible and courageous act of imagination, she finds the path to her uncertain atonement, and to an understanding of the power of enduring love.

Two female suicide bombers blew themselves up Friday in separate attacks on Baghdad pet bazaars, killing at least 68 people and wounding dozens, police said. The attacks were the deadliest in the Iraqi capital since 30,000 more American troops flooded into the center of the country last spring. (Read the article here.)
*Note: I'm convinced that these dumb bastard Republicans not only don't get it, they don't care. Period. If you voted for George Bush in either election, please accept that fact that politics is not your game. If you can't find an intelligent political role model (Ladies, that doesn't include your husband or your boss) then just do the rest of middle class and poor America a favor and stay the hell home. The soldiers families will appreciate it, I'm sure.
