WWJD?

What would Julia do? I just finished watching Closer. Synopsis: Julia Roberts has to choose between Clive Owen and Jude Law so she does what many females would do, she screws 'em both. I give this movie 3 stars. The British eye candy was the best thing about it.

Johnnie Cochran has passed away and I'm stunned when people say they didn't like him because he got OJ off. What kind of nonsense is that? I mean it's not like he paid off or threatened jury members, the man was just the most brilliant person in the courtroom. I had profound respect for his ability after the Simpson trial.

I always say the great thing about being a defender of the down trodden is that you challenge the powers that be to step up thier game. Simply put did Chris Darden do the job Johnnie Cochran did? No and thats because prosecutors charge the majority of defendants who only have public defenders. He doesn't have to be that great. Enter Johnnie Cochran who has the means to dig up a witness from 10 years ago to testify the detective freely used the "N" word. Johnnie Cochran makes a cop look bad and the jury believes he was corrupt.

By the way, did you know Johnnie Cochran's son became an LA police officer? Maybe partically thanks to his dad the LA police department became something worth joining.

Invasion of the Celebrity Blogger

We have to make room for celebs who want to blog? Why does that idea annoy me? It's like they invade this last unchartered territory and of course get all kinds of publicity like it's something new that was just invented.

I really dislike the idea of fame. John Lennon and David Bowie made an awesome song about it in the 70's, they knew fame was no good. It makes people weird, it changes them. I love the idea of anything that isn't mainstream. "Celebrity" participation will make blogging corny.

Once, I attained a certain fame... on a message board. It was more like a notorious reputation. Some people put forth that they loved my writing and others hated me and everything I stood for with a passion. People wrote about me everyday. They picked apart everything about me in chat rooms and the board and when there was nothing to pick, they made up lies or just took cheap shots. Scambling to get my picture, they posted it. It was a weird sensation, strangely addictive. I would tune into this place to read what people were saying about me. After a while I no longer cared.

I always thought if ever I were famous in real life, I would stay between Philly and NYC. This area is home for me and I'm grounded here. I could stay real here.

What do we have to tolerate of pop culture next, Justin Timberlake or Ashton Kutcher blogging?

Shhh Liz, don't give 'em any ideas.

The Best Candy on Easter, Eye Candy

Thanks to the fabulous bead girl, Shii for sending me some pics of hot Japanese men. If you don't believe I dig 'em then check me out with one of my stylists from NYC. I have such a crush on this man and he is half my size and barely speaks a word of English, but hot damn he is adorable!

A Romantic Comedy. With Zombies

You have to see Shaun of the Dead. Josh told me it was hysterical and he was right. Late at night and I was sitting there laughing out loud. It's one of those awesome flicks that will have a cult following forever.

My Drug Of Choice

Today Jeanna and I hit the MAC store and Sephoria for a day of beauty purchases. Cosmetics are a much more gratifying addiction than food, no calories and one looks better afterwards. As a stylist, Jeanna qualifies for 30% off at any MAC store! One hundred and eight dollars after the discount wasn't bad for everything I came home with in my goodie bag. Eyeshadows, lipgloss, brushes, liners and moisturizers are now ours for the playing. Alex, a cute little makeup artist adopted us and showed us the way to a spring look. Purple to play up Jeanna's baby blues and green to off set my tawny brown eyes. Today was just what the doctor ordered for me and we decided we are worth it.

All Sold Out

Well, Audioslave sold out here in Philly in 12 minutes! Damn! Not that I adore Audioslave, but you know I adore Rage and this would be my only chance to see the guys with my idol Tom Morrello. If anyone has an extra tic and wants company, email me. Seriously.

Just thinking about how much things have changed. The other night I was considering what I'm no long focused on. Things such as....

1. Learning guitar. Unemployment happened and it got put on the back burner.
2. Meeting new people and putting effort into it. I actually meet new people all the time, what was I thinking with that one?
3. Running here and there. Between low funds and a weak constitution, I have been homebound and keeping warm.
4. Attending lectures at Swarthmore College. I haven't done that in SO long.
5. The blogfather, Justin Hall no longer blogs. He told me that he is exploring other creative options and I respect that, but I miss Links.

I went to two Easter egg hunts today with the sister in law and the kiddies. My suggestion... if you aren't competative, avoid these things. Maybe there is a good reason I don't have kids. The parents are coaching the kids on the side line how to grab the most candy and tee shirts. This is SUV country people, its not like these parents can't go buy there trolls candy and tee shirts anytime they want. My niece Jessica is a creative/Princess sort, like her Aunt Lizzy. We were a bad match cause neither one of us is aggressive with this stuff. We both think in terms of buying what we want. Poor Jessica didn't get much and her Mom held me responsible. I dont think I will be invited back Easter egg hunting next year, thankfully.
Girls

Friday night I did go to a free concert and met a former coworker there. It was truly an amazing concert with the group I have volunteered for in the past. I was just so dead tired. I really wanted to leave early but thought it would be rude.

I need something to spark my fire. I feel like I'm selling out myself.

St Paddy removes the (green) beer goggles

By: Tony, England
Notwithstanding sensibilities I must register my pleasure at the news that Sinn Fein (the political wing of the IRA) is no longer the prodigal son in the eyes of many Irish Americans after the involvement of the IRA in recent high profile bank robberies, running extortion rackets and drug dealing to ‘keep their hand in’ while working on a solution to the problems of the six counties. The final straw being the stabbing of Robert McCartney by IRA members in a pub brawl in front of Sinn Fein candidates who are now strangely reticent to say they were there (but the IRA want to make amends – they have offered to shoot those involved – now that’s diplomacy!)

No big fundraisers this year for Gerry Adams or glad-handing with Ted ‘The Fish’ Kennedy or George‘The Prez’ Bush. ...Good!

Why so negative from one normally so nice?

Well the IRA tried to kill me twice in the past. Once when they thought it fun to let off a bomb on a London Bus in the Strand and once when they tried to bring down an office block in Canary Wharf in the East End. (That second time was way too close for comfort) so the IRA and I have not been talking for some time.

From self styled ’freedom fighters’ to armed thugs in a space of 20 years. The power of the Armalite is in the gun not the man and guns do not have any political creed.

ok rant over!

The Odd Couple

At the Super Bowl. At the White House. Playing golf. Former Presidents Bush and Clinton have spent a lot of time together since the current president asked them to work on tsunami relief.

Seeing Bush Sr. and Clinton together all over the news was strange at first.

I started wondering what was really behind the fund raising friendship these two former opponents seemed to be forging.

Jimmy Carter put a lot of former presidents to shame. That man left office and seemed to just be getting started serving his country. Now, here are two ex presidents that used there combined might for Tsunami Relief efforts then something happened between them, friendship.

I can imagine Clinton and Bush Sr. having a lot in common. First off who but one another, can relate to having the job of president of the United States? Both men are wealthy and educated and can talk about their shared experience in the oval office, empathizing I’m sure with one another over the unbelievable pressures.

As a world leader, I think it does America a great service for these men to be seen putting differences aside and working for a greater good including new found friendship during the "retirement" years. Everyone needs friends. Your family will always be your family, but sometimes only your peer group can speak to our soul. George and Bill are peers after all and both live lives of service in a glaring spotlight. If they can lean on one another, share, and laugh and aid the world’s suffering then I for one, am happy for both of them.

clinton.bush
"Bush, 80, said Clinton offered ahead of time to give the older former president the bedroom so he could lie flat and avoid paining his body. Clinton, 58, decided to play cards in the other room that night.
The next morning, Bush said he peeked in and saw Clinton sound asleep on the plane's floor.
"We could have switched places, each getting half a night on the bed, but he deferred to me. That was a very courteous thing, very thoughtful, and that meant a great deal to me," Bush said." ~CNN News

Bling Bling

I went to Target today and coughed up a lung as I walked into the store. How embarrassing feeling people swerve to avoid my tubercular cough. Determined, I dragged myself out today after blowing off plans with friends last night. I dropped $67.00 at Target and that felt pretty good. I asked the girl at the register if she liked the shades I picked up. She said, "Oh I love those!" I said sold, cause she looked like a girl with some flair. Got some tooth whitener and a new toothbrush and some pants that fit nicely. Coughed up another fur ball in the parking lot and headed home.

Has anyone seen JLo's new runway line on MTV? As if we needed more fake reality in our lives, JLo generously allows the cameras on her as she "designs" a new collection for her Sweetface label. Here's what it boils down to, the three time bride strolls into some office that employs staff and a designer. Now we all know she might drop in once a month if that, but some how they all seem to know to leave the high back leather chair behind the desk open so JLo can sit there. As she takes her pertinent place in the chair you get the feeling she is on a movie set badly portraying a boss. Jenny from he block pretends to more than just a girl with too much money to spend and instructs the designers to add more bling to the jeans. (Always criteria in high-end fashion you know) She feigns frustration and lectures the staff on how she won't settle for less than perfection. (I wonder if she knows which sweatshop in NYC is throwing these rags together)?

Finally, after Jenny does three hair and outfit changes for one half hour segment, it's time for the runway show. Always ghetto fabulous, Jen is back stage tweaking and fixing cause well, this part calls for her to be real hands on. In all her Bronx glory she instructs stylists to comb down the "baby hairs" on the models, as if they even know what the hell she is talking about. The big show stopper is good ole Naomi Campbell wheeled out for some fashionista street cred. The super model doesn't even speak to our girl Jen. Naomi walks the rhinestone encrusted catwalk (More of Jen's bling) in what appears to be a gigantic piece of felt covered foam perched on her head. I imagine she feels mortified but oh well, who hasn't sold their soul for a pay check at some point? I can forgive that.

Trust me, don't hold your breath waiting for this line. Head over to Target and get put together the exact look if that's your bag, for a whole lot less. Oh, and if I have to hear one more person say bling bling, I'm going to take a hostage.

I Got It Made

"I'm kinda spoiled
cuz everything I want I got made
I wanted gear--got everything from cotton to suede
I wanted lead--I didn't beg I just got laid
My hair was growin too long, so I got me a fade
and when my dishes got dirty, I got Cascade
when the weather was hot, I got a spot in the shade" ~ Special Ed, I Got It Made

It's freezing outside and I still have a cold. Can't seem to shake it. Today I was pulling out of my old high school's parking lot and Pat Benetar was blasting on the radio. I had to laugh to myself when I thought of being back in that school many moons ago and watching PB videos on MTV. I also heard Special Ed as I clicked around stations on the radio and I remembered that Macolm Jamal Warner directed one of his videos. Why is information like that locked in my head?

I haven't made out to the bookstores to search out the recent issue of Venus magazine of which I have contributed. That certainly isn't like me so I'll try to look for it this weekend if I can get motivated.

I joined NetFlix because I can no longer tolerate that corporate slime Blockbuster. Speaking of corporate slime, at least Martha Stewart dropped some weight in prison. If that had been me, I would have counted the whole experience totally worth while just for that reason alone.

I think I'll make my way back to the big apple when the weather breaks. I miss it there and I want to see whats happening.

Over and Under the Weather

It's snowing outside again and I'm sick so what, right? Even I'm over it. What's one more sick day spent laying in bed? *sigh*

I watched the nauseating Oscar Awards the other night. Leonardo wanted me to go with him, but since I'm sick I lent my gown and jewels to Giselle, his standby date. (No, I don't have a fever!)

I didn't care for Chris Rock and here's why; I'm over anti-Bush humor. I also didn't care for CR making African American's look silly in front of a movie theater. Why not ask anyone what movies they saw this past year? Why go to a Magic Johnson theater for the benefit of making one group of people seem unsophisticated, when clearly any portion of America is unsophisticated. He did have one funny line regarding awards being handed out in the isles, "Next year, they're gonna give the Oscars in the parking lot,"

Speaking of unsophisticated, did you see Michael Jackson's clown make-up as he entered into court today? My heavens! What was that all about? I thought of John Wayne Gacey immediately. MJ needs a better makeup artist for this, his most crucial performance.

OK, it's back to bed for me now. That's enough fun for tonight.
