Let Them Eat Cake

In Antonia Fraser's book about Marie Antoinette, we learn that Marie never uttered that old let them eat cake line. It was all a part of the trash talking that went on against the Austrian born queen of France. Now Sofia Coppola's long awaited film (long awaited by me at least) was boo'd at the Cannes Film Festival. Sofia seems to have thick skin but it might be the knowledge that at least she is safe from the guillotine.

See the trailor set to some kick ass music

The director and screenwriter, Sofia Coppola

I loved Lost in Translation and was blow away by The Virgin Suicides (that movie nailed the real look and feel of the suburban 70's -- I know, I was there). Here’s hoping that her new film finds its audience; if not, there is always next time.
