Antiquing

Recently I have acquired several antique pieces; Persian rugs, a brass bed and some other furniture including a secretarial, dressers and a cedar storage bench. It's quite a windfall of luxury items and I'm thrilled. The Persian rugs are gorgeous and in mint condition. The brass bed was never even slept in as crazy as that sounds. The antiques are heavy and sturdy looking. A person would spend quite a bit to go out and furnish a house this way. I'm very, very fortunate.

My taste has really evolved over time. There was a time when minimal was all I could tolerate, now I'm relishing antiques? Yes, I think it has a lot to do with recent influences in my choice of films and books. I appreciate the richness and quality of turn of the century to early 1900's craftsmanship. I still don't want a lot of things in my house, but a few elegant pieces and a brass bed to sleep on will be a rarefied treat.
