A Royal mess

UKComemorative1.jpg

What the hell happened to us?

There was a time, not so long ago, when we could proudly boast the one thing we could do well was pageantry. Well that’s over now which anyone who saw footage of the royal welding (sic) today will testify.

What a f***ing shambles! Right from the start it was badly done. originally it was announced they were to wed in Windsor Castle until Chas’s office discovered that, in order to comply with the law, the chapel had to get a licence to hold a civil wedding – which means that for the period of the licence any of the great unwashed could request to be married in the castle thus there was the possibility that minor royals could come into close proximity with the working stiffs who pay for their upkeep. This, of course, is not to be borne – what next? Charabancs of lower class oiks munching home made sandwiches on the camomile lawn? Gaudily dressed Chavs swilling down Lambrini with the bride and groom? Americians?

No, we will have none of that! So the whole mess was moved to the registry office to keep the commoners at bay. And then Queenie stamps her foot, throws her toys out of the pram and says she will not be going to the ceremony. Reason is she hates Camilla (Milly to her friends –“That bloody woman” to the royals) bur reason given is some crap about being the head of the church she cannot go to a registry office…

Then the Pope died. Dammed inconvenient!

He was probably holding on just to spite them after all those years of work trying to bring the Church of England back into the fold has come to nothing, so why not shaft the leader before I go? thought the Pope. Well it worked after announcing nothing will change Chas then says ‘ok move it forward one day’ but Queenie holds out for a six MONTH wait (give her more time to talk the idiot boy out of it…) so there are a string of conflicting press releases alongside news pieces about poor shopkeepers who are packed to the gills with wedding merchandise from tea towels and mugs to ……well, bigger tea towels and mugs all with the wrong date (personality I would have hired a bunch of immigrants with permanent markers to cross out the wedding and put ‘POPE DIES’ on the crap – the photo of Camilla works just as well as the Popes death mask) If they hold out for a hundred years it might still come good.

The event was P*** poor with little support or public interest in the wedding of two ancient adulterers who have been shagging since God was a boy with the hardest job being the news crews trying to drown out the boos from the crowd (I use that term loosely) and as to her taking the title Duchess of Cornwall?

Forgive my ignorance of protocol but when you marry a person of title and you inherit theirs the senior title is the one you must be known by. Chas is the Duke of Cornwall but more than that he is a Prince – the Prince of Wales. That makes Camilla Princess of Wales – just like the woman whose husband she was having an affair with and now has taken her position. In taking a lesser title their guilt is manifest – if all was well and you were secure in your actions then why not take the big title? Not that I hold much of a candle for dear, dead, Di but it was interesting to note that in the service following the wedding (the bit the Queen felt able to attend ) they had to renounce their sins – not something you normally see the royals forced to do and perhaps a requirement from the church or they would not go through with the charade.
All in all it was a cheap, threadbare attempt that was badly planned (even I knew for the past few months the Pope was to pop off at any minute so this was a bad time to make plans) and poorly communicated. The populace was expected to do what they were told and listen to their ‘betters’

When the Queen goes expect the wheels to fall off the state carriage, no shot for the 21 gun salute and Duchess/Princess Cammy late for the planting due to measuring for new carpets and thumbing through the IKEA catalogue back at the palace

Tony, my Mom and I watched this on TV today and your right it was a mess. Mom commented that it looked like no one even showed up.

Then there were the HATS! ACK! Look, the Diana days are over. It takes a beauty to pull off the bird feathers hanging all over the place. The Americans are not having those hideaous hats!

The only reason to be a royal watcher these days is for hunky Harry and Wills. :)
