The Debate

I watched the debate and I watched the coverage. I don't really care about who looked one way or the other. They are both Yale grads, so I fully expect them to hold there own in a debate and they both did. How do you pick a winner? Well, I was listening to the remarks. I wanted to hear from the men themselves on the issues. I was so please to hear John Kerry make the following remark. As an average citizen, it appears to me that we are occupying Iraq at this point. We are not wanted in the bitter Middle East. I hope democracy will be able to grab hold in this part of the world, but I'm not sure the people want democracy.

"That's exactly where we find ourselves today. There's a sense of American occupation. The only building that was guarded when the troops when into Baghdad was the oil ministry. We didn't guard the nuclear facilities.

We didn't guard the foreign office, where you might have found information about weapons of mass destruction. We didn't guard the borders.

Almost every step of the way, our troops have been left on these extraordinarily difficult missions. I know what it's like to go out on one of those missions when you don't know what's around the corner."

thanks Liz for encouraging me to vote. This will be my first year voting. I think it is important

i find it really odd that you guys don't have to vote.

We have our federal election on oct 9 here - and we have to vote once we turn 18. I think it's a good thing.

What was clear was the disrespect on Bush's face for Kerry which transfers onto the working class. He cares not for anyone's opinion but his own. I thought Yale men were taught to be open-minded...that's what I learned in the Ivy League..
I can't wait to vote!

Mary~ It's funny, I can't wait to vote either. I think its because we all just want this nightmare to end.

Shame I can't vote in this election, but I will definitely be voting in the next one. After watching the debate, there is still hope . . yet it's close

Honestly I have *never* voted before... but this year I will DEFINITELY do so...

Over the past four years I've been astounded by how much damage arrogance, stupidity, and incompetence can do.

Ben, you join the ranks of Drew Barrymore and Andre 3000 (Of Outkast) as people who have never voted but will this year. Congrats!

What can I say… my job is to GET people to vote!

I am surprised I have not read one of the more popular responses – ‘It doesn’t matter who you vote for – the government always gets in!’

Vote for someone… but I do see your problem over the pond…;)
